Ok hear me out. The gameplay stays exactly the same, but the stats, items, even player IDs get reset BUT:

  • Those who paid money for supporter packs/subscriptions, will get everything they've paid for after the reset, just on the new account
  • Players who survive this giant "rollback", get a special recognition, such as unique non marketable/tradable display item, unique name color and a star next to their profile name on their page. New players who sign up after, don't.
  • There is a 24 hour period after players are NOTIFIED of the reset, so the race to the top can begin once more, which may spark dying embers.
  • Players who have reffered people, will get the $5m/200 points per person for the people they had previously reffered, AND a mini supporter pack per reffered person that is still active.

Ok so after those conditions, below lists my actual reasons as to why I wouldn't mind this reset:

  • Potential boom in new players, aside from the remaining old ones. The human nature to strive to be the best incites competition, and there is low movitation when the top players are out of reach, which means potential new players may go "eh, nvm don't wanna play"
  • A chance for me to get player id # 69😏 (pls don't downvote just for that)
  • The game is still relatively new anough where the current top players won't feel like they lose everything (i'm literally in the top 75 in stats and networth, and honestly I won't be upset at the loss in progress if I can just start again, and this time might even hit top 10)
  • This also gives diablo a chance to work out any kinks, make a poll for all of us on features that should either be removed, added, or reworked. Of course he can do that now, but starting a new game (same server just reset) may make it more smooth performance wise and QoL wise.
  • Economy rebalance. I think we can all agree to that.

I am by no ways saying I disagree, nor am I trolling-  I actually don't understand, could you elaborate?

First for all, I could see your point, but this suggests has been suggested multiple times, and all being rejected.

People are spending years to build their battle stats, networth, job skill, etc, they won't simply accept for their stats being reset. Focus people to reset will just inevitable hurt this game's small playerbase, it won't spark dying embers, just will extinguish it.

As for potential boom, it only exists in completely new games, not some version 2.0 with everything resets. Most people won't join or play again cause they know resetting will just drop again and again, not much people could accept about it.

edit:

About the economy part, the current situation is inevitable eventually wherever how much times of resets, since the product that one dude could grind is much more than the demand of that dude.

If we want to fix it, we should have more way to use our overproduced resources, it is better than just simply resetting whole game.

Removed a part since this is on general forum.

I get why a reset might sound exciting, it levels the playing field and can spark competition. But instead of a hard wipe for everyone, why not create a fresh leaderboard/server? That gives Diablo the space to fix bugs, tweak features, and fine tune the economy without erasing years of work from the OG crowd.

Veterans could be honored on a dedicated “OG Leaderboard,” keeping their stats and job skills intact. The economic side could be rebalanced by giving OGs some form of compensation for losing their items/$$. Maybe support credits, boosted EXP rates, or some other form of a perk.  That way they still have a reason to log in and play.

Meanwhile, new players would have a completely fair start on the new server, free from feeling like they’re chasing unreachable leaders. Both sides get something: fresh competition for newcomers, and lasting recognition (plus perks) for the ones who built the game’s early history and supported Diablo.

We have Reputation which takes time to build, then Intelligence to 1000 not so much but it still takes time, Now battle stats which take forever to get to nice gains. So if you say reset how often? A week! 2? or a year? Imagine going the same journey over and over! To what end?
