This post aims to communicate the changes going in for smuggling phase 5.

Smuggling phase 5 is intended to introduce critical failures and critical success, in addition to more varied rewards from runs.

Changes

Durability/Condition

When a smuggling run completes a submarines condition is decreased by a percentage that varies based on the durability of the submarine. With no durability upgrades and no critical failures or critical success runs, you can expect to get 15 runs from a submarine before it requires maintenance. Once it reaches ~5% for its condition the submarine is rendered damaged and must be repaired before it can go out on smuggling runs again. The more durable a submarine is the more runs it can partake in without requiring maintenance.

Repairs

When the submarines condition is moved to Damaged, you are presented with the option to repair it from the smuggling UI. This activity has a couple of costs associated with it:

  • £50,000,000
  • 100 steel
  • 75 concrete bags
  • 50 nails
  • 200 bricks

In addition to the material cost, when you initiate repairs it will take 5 days to complete, during which time you cannot start a new smuggling run.

Rewards

On completing a smuggling run there is now a small chance(deliberately not communicating the likelyhood) to have both critical failures and critical success.

On critical failure the condition loss for a submarine is doubled and the rewards are halved.

On critical success the condition loss for a submarine is halved and the rewards are doubled.
