I am adding two new staff roles to Cartel Empire: Economist and Community Manager. Both exist to give the community more structured support around the economy and day-to-day player experience. Expect these roles to evolve as I learn what works.
Economist
The Economist’s job is to keep a close eye on the in-game economy and call out where things may need to change — pricing pressure, reward balance, sinks vs faucets, and similar.
When a decision that meaningfully impacts the economy needs to be made, the Economist also gets a highly weighted vote in that process. They’re not a solo dictator of the economy; they’re a dedicated voice with real weight when economy-affecting calls come up.
For now there will likely be one Economist, Booniesteep will be occupying this role.
Community Manager
Community Managers help players settle into the game, keep the community moving, and make Cartel Empire feel more alive outside of pure combat and grinding. Responsibilities can include:
Helping new and returning players get familiar with the game
Running community events
Helping with social media accounts where someone is willing and a good fit
Triggering dynamic in-game events from a dedicated dashboard
There will be multiple Community Managers. Some may lean more toward new-player support, others toward events, others toward social — the role can specialize rather than forcing everyone into the same job. I will be building a dashboard for community managers to do a variety of things as well as possibly creating a dedicated newbie chat channel for community managers and accounts under 30 days old.
Like the Economist role, this will likely grow and change over time as I see what the community needs.
Who I am looking for (Community Manager)
I already have a pool of players who’ve expressed interest. If you’re interested too, the primary bar for now is simple:
At least 1 year of account age
Generally active in chats and/or the forums
That isn’t a full job description — it’s the baseline. Fit, reliability, and how you treat other players still matter.
Current staff switching & backfill
People already in staff roles who want to move into Community Manager (or otherwise reshuffle) will get preference first when interest is shown. Those moves will be backfilled — so yes, that can open up Moderator spots (and other seats) as people shift around.
To Apply
If you’re interested in Community Manager, send an in-game mail (not a direct message) with a title like Interested in Community Manager. In the body, include:
Why you are interested in the role.
What you would hope to achieve in the role.
Any relevant past experience you think makes you a good fit.
What LPT hours you are usually most active in. I am hoping for broad timezone coverage, so this helps a lot.
People who’ve already expressed interest should still send a mail in this format so everything is in one place.
What’s next
I will review applications, work through current-staff preference / backfill as needed, and shape the roles as I go. Questions or thoughts on how these roles should work — drop them in the replies.
