With missions coming up I wanted to preemptively get a reference put together to try and hold questions that I anticipate coming up so there is an easy to reference spot prior to this making it to the wiki. That being said, what I am posting in here now may change between now and when missions are released (the code is pretty much complete and tested, but may change if I get feedback).
Missions – Frequently Asked Questions
1. How many missions can I accept at once?
Personal (board) missions: You can have up to 6 active missions at a time (daily, weekly, and monthly combined). You choose which of the offered missions to accept until you have 6 active. When you complete one, claim it, or abandon it, you free a slot to accept another.
2. How many global missions can be active at once?
Two. There is one active weekly global mission and one active monthly global mission at any time. Everyone on the server works toward the same goals. When a global mission is completed, every player can claim the reward once for themselves.
3. How many cartel missions can be active at once?
Up to four. Your cartel can have 2 daily, 1 weekly, and 1 monthly cartel mission active at the same time. They are generated automatically for your cartel each period. Any cartel member can contribute to progress, and any member can claim the reward when a mission is completed (rewards go to the cartel vault, reputation, or armory).
4. What if I run out of claimable player missions?
If you have nothing left to claim, you either have no completed missions or you've already claimed everything. To get more rewards:
Complete more of your active missions – Work on the objectives for your current 6 missions; when each one hits its goal, it becomes claimable.
Free a slot – If you don't want to do a mission, you can Abandon it. You lose that mission's progress, but you free a slot so you can accept a different one from the Available Missions list.
Wait for new offers – New daily missions appear at midnight (UTC), new weekly missions on Monday, and new monthly missions on the 1st of the month. If you have fewer than 6 active, you'll see new options to accept.
You never "run out" of missions permanently; you're only limited by the 6 active slots and how many are completed vs. still in progress.
5. How do I know when a mission is complete and rewards can be claimed?
Personal (board) missions: On the Missions page, each mission card has a progress bar (e.g. "X / Y"). When your progress reaches the goal, the card gets a green border, the bar turns green, and a "Claim Reward" button appears. Click it to collect your cash, reputation, items, and any bonus (e.g. Personal Favour). You can also see how many missions are ready to claim from the mission icon in the nav/top bar – the number there includes both personal, global and cartel claimable rewards.
Global missions: When the server-wide goal is reached, the mission shows as completed and a "Claim Reward" button appears for everyone. Claim before the mission's period ends (weekly or monthly) or you'll miss the reward. The nav bar for missions will fill with gold when there are claimable global missions.
Cartel missions: On Cartel → Missions, when the cartel's progress hits the goal, the mission becomes claimable. Any member can press Claim; rewards go to the cartel (vault, rep, armory). The nav bar can show a badge when your cartel has claimable missions in red and an event is sent to the cartel letting them know a missions rewards can be claimed and who claimed the rewards when that happens.
6. Can I abandon an accepted mission?
Yes. For personal missions, each active mission has an Abandon button. Using it removes the mission from your active list and frees a slot. All progress on that mission is lost. You can then accept a different mission from the available list. Global and cartel missions cannot be abandoned by individual players.
7. Can only one person claim global mission rewards, or does everyone get them?
Everyone can claim. When a global mission is completed, each player can claim the reward once. It's not first-come-first-served; everyone gets their own cash, reputation, and items when they hit "Claim" on the Missions page.
8. Where do rewards for personal missions go?
To you. All personal mission rewards go to your character: cash to your pocket, reputation to your rep, and items to your inventory.
9. Where do rewards for global missions go?
To the player who claims. When you claim a completed global mission, the rewards go to your character – your cash, your rep, your inventory – just like personal mission rewards.
10. Where do rewards for cartel missions go?
To the cartel, not to you. Cartel mission rewards go to shared cartel resources: vault cash, cartel reputation, and the cartel armory. Any member can hit "Claim" for a completed cartel mission; the rewards always go to the cartel, no matter who claims.
11. What happens if I don't complete a personal mission before it expires?
You get nothing for that mission. When the mission's time is up (daily at midnight, weekly on the next Monday, monthly on the next 1st), it expires. You can't complete or claim it after that; the slot frees and you can accept new missions. There is no partial reward or progress carry-over.
12. What happens if a global mission is not completed before it expires?
The mission expires. If the server never reached the goal, no one gets rewards. If it was completed but you didn't claim before the period ended, you can no longer claim. Weekly globals expire after their week; monthly after their month. Claim as soon as you see "Claim Reward" to avoid missing out.
13. What happens if a cartel mission is not completed before it expires?
The mission expires. No one can claim after that, and progress does not carry to the next period. Daily cartel missions expire at the next midnight (UTC); weekly and monthly use the same period rules as other missions.
14. Do we lose progress on a cartel mission if a member who contributed leaves the cartel?
No. Cartel mission progress is stored for the cartel as a whole. When a member leaves, the cartel's progress on all active cartel missions stays the same; nothing is subtracted.
15. What do the rarity values mean?
Missions (both personal board missions and cartel missions) are labelled with a rarity: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, or Legendary. Rarity affects two things:
How often that mission is offered. When new missions are generated (daily, weekly, or monthly), the game rolls for each slot. Common missions are offered most of the time. Uncommon and Rare show up less often. Epic and Legendary are much rarer—so seeing a Legendary in your list is unusual.
What you can expect. Rarer missions generally have harder or bigger objectives and better rewards (more cash, rep, or items). So a Legendary mission is both hard to get and worth chasing when it appears.
The badge on a mission card (e.g. "Common", "Rare") is there so you can tell at a glance how often that type turns up and whether the reward is likely to be higher.
