Is not exactly a guilt trip, most of people dont want problems.

By attacking active players, you'll bring problems into you and maybe everyone around you too.

Simply you seek the problem, they seek vengeance, and you got the consequence

Yeah, there be no guilt trip. I attack players often; but I have some stats to back me up. But I know that not every case will be met with no backlash. 

I am always prepared to talk my way out of it, or meet eye to eye if need be.

It's what seperates the newbies from the pro's. The willingness to take hits, while being open to negotiation.
