at the start, typically by doing the easier robbery jobs, and selling what you get from them either directly to people or through the market.

Later you'll probably want to keep most of the resources you make for those jobs to run productions though, which is the main way I make money now.
(There's also exploration, but that's a money sink early on, and only really starts to bring in much money once you've made it to Tarjia and fully upgraded your teams, but it costs hundreds of millions to get there at least)
