I don't think forum respect should be part of the achievements. Too easy to spam upvote cartel members and downvote those who you dont like etc for it to be fair in any way. Will also increase the amount of pointless messages in hopes of farming some forum respect with.

If I can make a suggestion, if it's not deleted (because I do like the idea of encouraging community involvement!), perhaps change it to "Receive X amount of liked posts/upvotes" instead, so that others cannot just lock people they don't like out of ever receiving the achievement by downvoting.  ^_^

A new rule is being added prohibiting respect trading in any fashion, any threads found to just be asking for respect will be graved. I've also updated the daily job to only take into account public forum categories and only those that benefit other players and I've updated it to only include likes as suggested by Doc.

As someone who loves posting in the forums & making guides etc, making karma have an actual impact on an accounts gameplay is not a good idea. 

There is almost no way to stop/mitigate karma trading and it will happen, on torn there is no reward for karma at all and people still do it. 

The only thing I ever wanted in one of these games was maybe karma added to the hall of fame as that would not have an impact on gameplay and people could just see who the most respected CE citizens were. 

with the current setup for karma there is also no downside to downvoting people as the name is not displayed so anyone could go around just spam downvoting others to stop them from getting achievements without a penalty.

Downvotes have no baring on the achievements but otherwise I agree that it could have a negative impact, but I'd like to test it for a while and see if I can tweak it to make it an overall positive feature.

Does it only count if you make the thread itself and get likes or do likes on replies count towards it as well? I ask cause what if everyone just starts liking every single post on the forums to speed run through it? My other issue is what's to stop people just liking any post from someone in there cartel or that they like in game for no reason other then it helps them get the achievment. There are several on this thread I'd upvote just because I know that it helps them out or I like them so it makes me want to upvote them more now due to that and not the quility of there posts. I find this to be an issue and see it diluting the value of the upvote system to single out helpful messages but that could just be me overthinking it.

Im 100 % with you. I don't like that the forum is tied directly to your strength.

Maybe set up a shop where you can exchange karma, for points, special collectibles etc.
