Following a conversation that took place in Discord with Merchant.

More events in-game to have more things to look forward to e.g:

 'International Dogs Day' Double Exp from training, dogs 50% off in the shop. Higher chance or of rarer dogs appearing 

DEF CON Week - Hacking jobs are 50% Quicker and rewards are doubled 

Fire Sale - Arsons rewards are doubled

Black Friday - Shops are 15% cheaper etc etc

Also followed on from this:

Could have events where you can have item buffs/debuffs

+10e from coke

+15 from alcohol 

Or 

50% reduction in booster cooldown

50% additional increase to drug cooldown

Or both buffs and debuffs

+ Double Alcohol Gains

-25% Maximum Health

Not sure if the buffs/debuffs could be picked of of a pool randomly or have them set you can plan ahead for them? I like the idea of randomness

If some of the buff/debuff events get added, then since they're not supposed to be fixed events they could be matched up with a type of weather and chosen at random, another idea people have talked about was a news ticker, and this could add in a weather forecast like
   "it's rainy today, perfect weather for sitting inside and having a drink. (+ Double Alcohol Gains, -25% Maximum Health)"
