I like this idea, I would be curious to hear the position of the downvoters.

So essentially two different markets, say I could play a bid to buy x amount of something at a set price. People looking to sell can choose the highest bidder to sell to or they could put it on the market for a higher asking price. It's a pretty neat concept. How would we integrate a selling fee or a bid fee? Could this be used to bypass the listing fee or is it basically a trade like function?

I like this idea, I would be curious to hear the position of the downvoters.

Thank you! Some players would probably try to use buy orders to hide cash from mugs. So we need a limit system so players can't hide billions on buy orders and abuse the system that way!

When I mentioned the reputation collateral thing. I don't mean to use reputation as cash not at all. But to prevent players hiding cash from mugs I think we could let players overcollateralise with their reputation for buy orders which means whenever someone fills that order, the buyer has to make sure there's enough liquid cash in hand to allow the trade to happen. If there isn't any liquid cash in hand to pay for items when seller fills the order, the reputation will be taken as penalty (it makes sense as you need reputation/trust for business). So essentially this system will prevent players locking away cash in buy orders to prevent mugs while also ensuring buy orders can be executed because risking 500 reputation for some cash is probably not worth it!

Definitely like the idea of buy orders. As discussed in general chat, whilst I'm not a mugger, it should still include some form of mugging potential I think.

Also need to somehow make sure that the buy orders don't become a mechanic for locking up large amounts of cash.

I think a time limit on the buyorders can be good. 6hr for it to fillup or the order is cancelled. Items are returned to the sellers and cash to the buyer. This should also give opportunities for mug. Infact it will give the exact time to mug. Also to not fillup the market with only buyorders being able to do it once every 48hrs should be fine i think.

To add more: If the order is complete then all the sellers become targets for mug too. It should show which seller sold how many items for how much so that people know. This point can be argued..as it might demotivate sellers and they just go back to tradechat for trades.

Wow this could work too. Nobody can afford to pay 15% fees over and over to hide money. Let's say if 15% listing fee is the system, what about time limit? Longer?

Hi!

Our markets currently only let sellers list their products with their prices. But I think to make the market more functional, we should introduce a "buy order" system where buyers have to put cash down for buy orders and sellers can fill up buy orders instantly for instant cash! A market system like this is more complete don't you think?
