I think it's a handy deterrent to stop people posting dumb stuff (mostly). However, there are people that will downvote posts purely because of the person posting it rather than the content so it works both ways.

Creo que los votos negativos son valiosos para ambas categorías, ya que permiten identificar rápidamente sugerencias inválidas o malas, pero no creo que deban contar para el karma, de modo que la gente se sienta cómoda publicando en estas categorías.

Yeah, I personally use the like-system in suggestions to judge the idea and whether I think it should be added or not. While with other categories, I judge the post as a whole (quality, how interesting is it, etc.)

You make an interesting point, I had not actually thought about not adding positive karma from these, just not subtracting. But yeah hmm. I will have to think that through some more I think.

Oh, I misunderstood the suggestion. I think it's only fair to also not count positive votes, as they serve a similar function in suggestion posts as the negative votes.

To be honest, I’d like it if positive votes were counted, but not negative ones. That way, you can get an idea of how active someone is on the forum 😊
