It's great to see people's true networth show but this whole market value effecting the vendors seriously breaks the mold. Price control let us keep within certain confines. Now anyone selling grenades will have to buy at 150k each and to make any profit will have to sell for higher and higher. Each day the cost of goods will rise as well until we are spending 1m each per grenade! This is a recipe for disaster and will harm the economy even worse. We can only buy 25 items a day. This also effects scrapping... all values are now different and there are no predictable scrapping patterns. Every day will be a math problem of how to efficiently scrap items... i really hope people can rally behind this post and ask for that part of this update to go back to normal.

Thanks for putting this post up, I was hoping that someone would. But to clarify, is the ask to go back to static buy prices and keep the sell prices market driven or can you clarify exactly what the suggestion entails?

I think that the static pricing with the NPC vendors should remain the same. I and many others religiously buy 25 items a day and to come back to insane inflation on game side is not a good thing. Supply for most of these items is only gained from these vendors which we only get 25 of any which item a day. That supply fuels the demand on the player market. As far as weapons, armor, throwables and meds, I feel those should remain untouched.

As far as adjusting their value in the inventory I think that is a great idea to give newer players a better idea of what each item is worth in the player market and also allows them to make educated decisions when posting items for sale.

A constant static price with the vendors allows for soft market caps rather than fueling inflation even more. It gives new players the ability to stock up on items without having to compete against player pricing which has been rising steadily over the years.

My best example is that of the grenades. In order for people to continue filling orders they now have to pay market value in order to get new supply which they can only get 25 max. In order to turn any kind of profit they will likely double the price on the market. After so much time NPC vendors will adjust the price to market which in turn doubles the price sellers will have to adjust in order to make a profit.

Another example is Scars. I have a pretty fair SCAR pricing guide and have been selling scars on the market for months, the last month has primarily been just me selling on market. I have been selling everything under 70% quality for 12.5m-15m while 70% gets a premium of 20m+ 1m per 1%. 80% scars go for 50m +1m per 1%. Now I sell more 70-80% scars in a given time and the buy prices from the npc reflects my recent market sales average of 26m per scar an almost 8m mark up for goods. That would require me to increase all items I sell in order to break even/profit.

I see the vision, interactive live market that is shaped by player habits, but this is a game. People like to expect the same thing day in and day out. It was a rude awakening for many of us who form in game businesses using the NPC vendors for our stock. Unless we have other opportunities to obtain all items in the future which could offset this I don't think it is wise to keep this mechanic long term.

I have a PR in to decouple the buy price in shops from the sell price and item values going forward. It will also reset the buy prices back to the values they were prior to the pricing rebase. Sell prices will continue to change dynamically going forward based on market activity.
