Currently we can list items to be sold for any price, but when searching for them for a specific price we have to ask in trade and hope the right person is online.
Creating an escrow system to place orders for any item at your desired price, then have them filled throughout the same market expiry time (one week) could be an easier way for people in different timezones and schedules to do commerce with less friction.
Either needing to manually move money out of your bank and into an escrow account, or by having the money automatically put into escrow upon creating a buy-order would work, but I like the idea of luckily catching someone manually moving their money getting ready for a big order, like we can now.
Upon an item sale or expired buy order, a cashier's cheque could be issued and must be manually claimed at the bank.
Additionally, events and potentially notifications would be useful here, and the ability to place an anonymous buy order for an additional absolute fee, or a %fee.
If we still want to have $1 market finds, we could only have buy orders filled manually, though some may feel better about having, for example, the highest paying buy-order be automatically filled by the item listing if it is <= the buy order amount.
