Although I’ve been socially inactive for some time in the game and community, I’ve been watching from the sidelines and noticed that many players are frustrated and maybe even a little irritated by the slow pace of development. Big shout-out to you, Vaelinn, and to the whole dev team for pushing updates as best you can while balancing real life.

That said, I don’t like to complain; I’d rather try to make a change. So here it is!

Rep run, rep contest, call it whatever you want. Many cartels run these to help members earn perks and keep motivation high within the group.

I want to take it a step further and organize a CE-wide rep run. Yes, you read that right. I might regret it (I hope not!). I’ve administered several rep runs for Ravage and learned from my mistakes. Those who know, know, lol.

How would this rep run work?

You’ll sign up, pay a small entry fee (I can’t fund all the prizes myself), and then wait for the start date.

What is a rep run?

You gain as much reputation as possible within a set period of time.

How can you trust that I’ll pay out the prizes?

I consider myself generous and trustworthy in-game. I don’t like making enemies; I prefer friends and friendly competitors. As a moderator, something I’m proud of. I want to live up to the vision that the mod team can be trusted. Ultimately, it’s your choice whether to trust me and participate.

When will this take place?

That is a good question, I have not thought of that just yet. I'm hoping it can start at the same time as the event "Day of the dead" 1st of November. And the rep run would last for one or two weeks. Depending on the amount and variety of members.

But it is easier for high-rep users to gain rep, is it even worth it if I'm a newbie?

Yes it acutally is, because this rep run will not be in amount of rep, it'll be percentages. And I'll use multipliers to even it out as much as possible. The multipliers I've been using for Ravage's rep runs is the ones I'm planning on using in this rep run 

How will the leaderboard be tracked?

I’ll collect data from public API endpoints showing your daily reputation. The data will be published in a Google Sheet/Google Site that everyone can access (including non-participants who want to watch and cheer).

Here’s the tricky part: I’ll need to do some manual work to keep the sheet updated properly, and I haven’t fully solved how to update placements without data drifting to the wrong rows. Because of that, you won’t see the final 1st/2nd/3rd placements in real time. Those will be confirmed at the end. (Of course, you can track your own progress; it’s not too hard.) Here's an example of how the sheet would look. (Thank you HugeAckman for giving me permission to use you as an example, sorry I forgot to ask for your permission lol).

And after all the columns are filled, it'll all be calculated and presented in the sheet. Both the amount of reputation and the percentual gain.

Thank you for those kind words Pyro! And I agree, that it can be a bit slow but, just as we're free to play this game. Were also free to leave if it doesn't fit us. I know Diablo will come back sooner or later when things calm themselves down at home. And when he does, we'll become bigger than our competitors 😂

But I don't quite understand the multiplier part. This looks like low-stat players would be punished by lowers multipliers. Can you give an example on how it works?

Let's take one 1m rep and one 1000 rep user as example. 

1m rep guy needs 1m rep to get 100% increase 

1k rep guy needs 1k rep to get 100% increase 

The difference here is that its way easier for the 1k rep guy to get 100% increase than the 1m guy. The +1m reps would need significantly more attacks to get the same percentage as the lower ones would need. 

And therefore a multiplier would even the gaps a bit. The tricky part is to have the right multiplier. The one above is what I've been using in our past rep runs and it has worked pretty well.

Stunning discrimination against the 2m+ rep category, not even included :(
